Title: [Petrification] Stillness in My Veins
Dimensions: approx. 40 cm/ 15.7’’ tall
Mixed media: paperclay, polymer clay, variety of textiles, such as cotton, silk, tulle, felt, and silk threads. She is painted with acrylics, soft pastels and colored pencils, and sealed with matte and gloss varnish. She can be displayed standing on her own, as her skirt is functioning as a standing base.
Pathology report:
Progressive calcification of living tissue, beginning at the extremities and advancing inward. The process immobilizes the body, eventually converting it into stone.
Symptoms include:
Stiffness and loss of flexibility in joints
Immobility, numbness and unresponsiveness
Grey or stone-like discoloration of skin
Progressive paralysis
Clinical manifestation:
The body undergoes a slow transformation into mineralized matter, where living tissue hardens into stone. Early stages present as rigidity and discoloration, while advanced stages result in full-body petrification and cessation of biological function. Once complete, the condition is irreversible, leaving the subject preserved in a lifelike stone form.
