This painting is inspired by a real-life chipmunk. My house has recently been overrun with chipmunks, and we have set Have a Heart traps for them. As many know, chipmunks may be cute, but they can cause a lot of damage to your property. This painting is based on the first chipmunk I trapped. The moment I saw him trapped, I took him to a local cemetery called “Forest Hill Cemetary” (how quaint of a name is that?). Upon his release, he scooted behind an old oak tree and peeked around the base of it at me. He was so cute and I hoped that he would find a new life in his new surroundings. In my mind, I like to think of him as in this painting. He’s going on a little adventure. The moment he was released, he heard whispers from the other animals that lived there of a golden acorn. He realized then that he would stay and that would be his mission in life, to find the golden acorn.
