The title of this work, ‘Ordinary Decadence’ presents a contradiction in terms of perception.
There exists a struggle between our willing ignorance to ensure our comfort and the reality of the environment in which we exist.
The spinifex mouse immersed in cream, cherries and ornate decoration signifies this polarity.
A lone creature juxtaposed into an environment in which it does not belong, almost as if it is something to be devoured and discarded.
