"Born in A Coruña, I grew up hearing that in Galicia magic isn't a story, but a way of seeing. This piece arises from that inherited imagery, from a land where the invisible coexists with the everyday. Here I bring together a Meiga and a Follateiro from Lobios, two figures from the tradition of my land who inhabit the boundary between the human and the ancestral, dancing together in balance around a transformative fire.
The Meiga (that's what we call witches in Galicia) that I represent is not dark or fearsome, but a figure of intuitive knowledge, close to the earth, to the cycles, to the small rituals that survive in memory. She is not only a sorceress, but a mediator between the visible and the invisible, between the human and the ancient.
Opposite her, the Follateiro appears covered in corn husks, a mask of mystery, almost blurred as an individual, as if the Forest were speaking through him. His identity is not fixed, he´s transition, a ritual disguise, Nature incarnate, an archaic presence linked to fertility and the dissolution of the individual into the wild.
Thus, the work is inscribed within my beloved Magical Galicia, which belongs not only to the past, but persists as a living imaginary, as a form of cultural resistance, and as a reminder that we still inhabit, even if we forget it, an enchanted world.."
