More about Friend

She would then only answer to the name, Public Universal Friend.
Friend became a preacher, whose dress and appearance was neither male nor female.
Friend traveled throughout the northeast, spreading the message of freewill, gender equality, and the abolition of slavery. Friend and their followers eventually created a Utopian community in Upstate New York, suffering persecution and intolerance along the way.
