Inspiration: "Bound, for thee only do I love..." is a piece inspired by one of the most prominent Victorian gothic horror pieces of literature, Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. I wanted to portray a ghostly image with specific flowers used as a form of language--the Language of Flowers--during the Victorian era, portraying the death of Catherine. Heathcliffe and Catherine loved each other deeply, but could not be together. After Catherine's death, Heathcliffe asks her spirit to stay on earth, even if that meant haunting him as a ghost. The flowers in the piece are abstract forms of the acacia bloom, meaning "concealed love"; arbutus, meaning "Thee only do I love"; and stock, meaning "bonds of affection."
