"Her crown is salvaged from another queen, The Queen of Hearts, a sculpture I made to explore power under patriarchy. From that queen I used the stems of an artificial carnivorous plant and armed the leaves with spears. Her hair and lace detailing are cut from the fringe of a vintage shawl, the garment of crones. The Regnant is about protection and the domain of women. She is meant to make you step back. What looks repellent is a barrier, and behind it is a coven, where women rule and look after their own".
