Artist: Lana Lichman
Title: Midnight Ritual
Medium: Mix media. Small mirror with golden frame featuring crescent moon face mounted on plywood circle. Decorated with preserved ferns and plant material, faux branches, handmade polymer clay turkey tail mushrooms and glass beads
Materials: Wood, mirror, preserved botanicals, moss, feathers, handmade polymer turkey-tail mushrooms, glass beads, natural materials and gilded sculptural elements.
Size: 25 cm diameter, 2 cm high
A gilded lunar face emerges from a dark ground, surrounded by preserved botanical materials - moss & fern, handmade polymer turkey-tail mushrooms and delicate glass beads.
The work evokes a nocturnal ritual or an imagined woodland altar, where the mirror becomes more than a functional object, a threshold between the familiar and the mysterious. The contrast between the reflective moon, dark surface and fragile natural materials creates an atmosphere of quiet magic, transformation and otherworldliness.
