Tells us about yourself and what you do, who is Perrilla?
Introducing myself is perhaps what is most difficult for me. Who I am? I´m a person with a great need to create without limits. I have not always dedicated myself to painting, before this I worked illustrating children's books, comic and posters. But maybe painting is where I finally found the perfect medium to express myself!!!!
Why art?
From a very young age it was clear to me, even my mother always carried a notebook and pencil for me in her purse!
It is a necessity, if I spend days without creating I feel anxiety and get nervous. Through painting I channel my emotions. Many times I don´t have a preconceived idea of what I want to paint, it seems that the Muses move me like a puppet. Then I analyze my works once they are finished, unraveling the symbolism that hides behind, and thus I learn a lot about myself.
Art keeps me mentally healthy, it's my hidden paradise.
What are you trying to communicate with your art?
Well, there are several recurring themes in my art. I try that when you are in front of the piece you wonder why that girl with the big eyes is staring at you in that strange way.
Then the dialogue comes, and surely she´s talking to you about love and respect for Nature, the fascination for the Cosmos, emotions ...
And you can be sure that the girl who looks back at you may seem innocent, sweet, sensitive, strong or warrior ... but above all she´s a feminist
How has your artwork change over time?
The truth is that visually it has been changing little by little. If I focus only on painting, perhaps at first my pieces were darker even though their colors were vibrant. I especially loved to focus on the main character.
But my girls have matured, and with them the landscapes and the scenery, which is now one of my favorite parts of the process!
What inspired you to create "Hidden Paradise"?
I wanted to create a Universe in a bubble, a mirror world where these wonderful and giant animals would have been saved from extinction.
Hidden Paradise is a secret world that ordinary humans cannot access. There is too much at stake!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
There were a few years when I stopped believing in myself. I turned away from pencils and looked for a job that hardly allowed me any free time to create. I thought I had nothing new to offer, that I would not be up to the task, so my husby believed in me more than myself, he practically forced me to stop working and put the pencils back in my hand. He told me to fight for my dreams, because no one was going to do it for me.
I went back to painting and trying to improve myself every day. Since then I will not stop!!
Professionally, what’s your goal?
I don't set goals, thinking about a final goal is overwhelming for me !! "Let's see if I get it ... but what if I don't ...?" It's too much pressure !!
I focus on doing what I love and trying to improve myself in each piece. My goal is to keep learning and enjoy the tour.
Thank you so much Perrilla!

In addition to this, this series is my tribute to the Amazons, to those strong and warrior women, to show them in a natural (sometimes sensible) way, avoiding showing them in the sexualized way in which they are normally represented.
I was very inspired by the discovery in Russia of the burials of 4 Scythian Amazons from 2500 years ago. Amazons are no longer a myth, and today we have to behave like them. Strong, warrior and also sensible!
Obviously I was also inspired by the great animals of the Quaternary. I wanted to bring the extinction of these great animals closer to the current time in which we live. Their extinction was due to an abrupt climate change and the action of primitive humans who hunted them when the situation of the continuity of the species was already delicate.
